The pan western Composites Research Network (CRN) is a major new initiative to support the transition of composites design and manufacturing capability, in the form of knowledge based best practice documents, to the industrial base in British Columbia and Western Canada. Working closely with a number of organizations across the west, the CRN will bridge the divide between the strengths of academic research and the needs of industrial practice. A state of the art facility with a wide range of design, manufacturing, and testing equipment and resources will support the activities of the CRN team across the west.

Composites Research Network Background

About The Composites Research Network

The Composites Group is an interdisciplinary research group spanning the two departments of Materials Engineering and Civil Engineering at UBC. The Group conducts applied and fundamental research in many areas involving advanced composite materials and structures, including processing, impact, and fracture/damage. In all areas there is a tight coupling between modelling and experimental activities. Major research funding in the form of contracts and grants is provided by various industries and governmental agencies.
